| The Manny deal: Are the vultures circling? »
SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that Manny Ramirez has given his OK to a trade that would send him to the Marlins, but that a deal has not yet been reached. But the slugger told ESPNdeportes.com this morning that no one has called to tell him anything; in fact he's watching the developments on ESPN. The Pittsburgh Pirates, who would get Jeremy Hermida from the Marlins as part of the deal, are apparently happy with that, at least according to Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports. And the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette agrees. But Peter Gammons reports that the deal is close to dead, because Florida is asking the Sox to send too much cash and prospects along with Ramirez. Ken Rosenthal, on Fox Sports, has another source telling him that the trade is moving toward fruition. Bottom line: It depends whose anonymous source you believe. |
