With Jason Bay apparently gone, SI.com and other media outlets report that the Red Sox are now in talks with the Los Angeles Dodgers about trading Manny Ramirez. Jon Heyman says the Red Sox are believed to be most interested in young outfielder Matt Kemp, while the Dodgers have offered another promising outfielder, Andre Ethier. But then another source indicates that the Dodgers are currently offering prospects other than Kemp and Ethier, which probably would not bode well for a deal getting done. In other news, the Boston Herald is reporting that the Red Sox will not trade Brandon Moss to get relief pitcher Ron Mahay of the Royals, a deal that Sean McAdam reported today had been proposed by Kansas City, unless they can deal Manny. The Herald says that Moss would be needed as an insurance policy for Ramirez in case he remains on the team and becomes injured, or at least deems himself unable to play. CommentsLeave a comment |

I say we keep Manny as a reserve palyer. Give a start everytenth game or so, and fine him $100,000 or more for every game he does not showup to the stadium for and $500,000 for everygame he is scheduled to play and he does not. It is a reality that any deal involving Manny would most likely involve the Red Sox paying so or all of the $20 million dollars he is due to get for 2009 so why not make him earn it the hard way. He is already a shoe in for the Hall of fame so he can't possibly be worried about his numbers.
