Terry Francona was asked this morning if he was troubled by Manny Ramirez's reaction to Friday night's mishap in left field.
Ramirez misplayed Maicer Izturis's blooper into a triple in the fifth inning, then compounded things by rolling onto the ball and later laughing as the Sox fell farther behind.
``I don't think I was laughing (in the dugout),'' said Francona, ``but I also have been around Manny enough to know it's not malicious. It's not malicious -- it's just how it is. I don't know how else to say it.''

Jed Lowrie is in the lineup today at short and the expectation is that he will get the majority of the playing time at the position in the coming weeks.
``I want to play this kid a little bit,'' said Francona, ``because I'm excited. He's steady and has good at-bats.''
Francona compared Lowrie to former Red Sox third baseman Bill Mueller -- a switch-hitter who will hit a lot of doubles -- if not for much power -- and ``grind out at-bats.''
Meanwhile, shortstop Julio Lugo, out until September with a strained quad, has yet to begin any rehab work and continues to rest.

It seems to me that Manny was jsut laughing in embarassment. Many of us who make silly silly mistakes laugh it off like that. Human nature
