There are reports out there this hour that indicate Manny Ramirez should not be packing his bags just yet for Southern Florida. The Boston Herald's Michael Silverman quotes a source saying the chances of a deal are less than 50-50, partly because there are people in the Red Sox front office who are not convinced that they need to move Manny. Jayson Stark says his source indicates the chances of a deal being done are even. Stark says that part of the problem is Florida's reluctance to include teenage outfield prospect Mike Stanton in the deal. He also indicates that the trade would send John Grabow to Florida, not to Boston, as has been widely reported. In unrelated news, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer says that the Mariners are shopping relief pitcher J.J. Putz, and that the Red Sox and the Mets are possible landing spots. |
