In his fourth at-bat of the night, David Ortiz faced a different pitcher, left-hander Clay Rapada.
And for the second time in the game he went down on strikes.
Ortiz saw three sharp-breaking curveballs in the seventh-inning at-bat. With the count at 2 and 2, Rapada fed Ortiz a nasty breaking ball off the outside corner. Ortiz tried to hold up, but was rightfully called out by base umpire Lance Barrett on appeal of the swing.
