PAWTUCKET _ David Ortiz arrived at McCoy Stadium at approximately 3 p.m. this afternoon in a white Escalade. He was sleeping in the passenger's seat and when emerged from the SUV, he stretched like a bear right out of hibernation.

Ortiz will be a member of the PawSox for the next four games and he plans to have a lively bat to entertain the masses. Big Papi has been on the DL since suffering a wrist injury during an at-bat in Baltimore on May 31.

Tonight will be his first real test at the plate and he said earlier today he's ready to go.

"I'm excited to be here," he said. "Sometimes these people don't get the opportunity to come see you at Fenway, so I believe it's going to be fun tonight. . . I've got no pain and everything is going well. I've been out for six weeks and it's not easy, man."

He will bat third in the PawSox' lineup, and if everything goes according to plan, he'll play a total of seven rehab games (four in Pawtucket and three in Portland).

He was asked if he will be swinging for the fences, and the response was typical Ortiz.

"I always do," he said with one of his typical Big Papi laughs.

During his BP session this afternoon, Ortiz lined a shot right back at the pitcher's screen that nearly took Pawtucket manager Ron Johnson's head off.

"With three days off my BP isn't all that good anyway," laughed Johnson.

Here's Pawtucket lineup tonight:

Bailey, 1b
Thurston, 2b
Ortiz, DH
Carter, lf
Kottaras, c
Coraselliti, rf
Ginter, 3b
Velazquez, ss
Van Every, cf
Martinez, sp
