BOSTON -- Yesterday's victory vaulted the Red Sox over the Rays and into first place in the American League East.
Boston leads Tampa Bay by one-half game as the teams in the majors head off for their All-Star break. Only a week ago, the Sox trailed the Rays by five games.
"We're going to test the Devil (sic) Rays and they're going to test us," said Red Sox first baseman Sean Casey. "They need to know that we're not going away. We'll be hanging around. Any time you're in first place is a good thing, especially at the break."
J.D. Drew agreed with Casey's sentiment.
"We battled through a lot of stuff, so to close out the first half in first place is nice. It's a great feeling," said Drew.
