Click the play button below to hear Sean's comments, recorded this morning. The topics: Justin Masterson, Jed Lowrie and the possibility of obtaining Juan Uribe, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz. Here's what Sean had to say about the Sox possibly obtaining Uribe to help at shortstop: "I'm not sure that that's much of an upgrade. In talking with people in the Red Sox organization after Lugo went down, the feeling was that anything that was available out there would not be as good as Jed Lowrie in the short term. There's probably going to be a learning curve along the way for him, and I think there's still maybe a little question about whether he can play the position full-time after this. But I think in the short term that the combination of Alex Cora off the bench and Lowrie as the regular, everyday shorstop as it were -- certainly [Lowrie has] done nothing in the short term to say that he can't, and for them to give up something for a nominal upgrade just because Uribe has more experience to me doesn't make a lot of sense." And on Manny's knee. Is it a real injury? "Just like a lot of stuff with Manny, we don't have a great sense of how serious the knee is, how long it might keep him out, when it came about. It certainly seemed to take Terry Francona by surprise yesterday, when Manny got to Safeco and said he was not going to be able to play. It had not been on the injury report, there'd been no mention of it. Manny later told us it had been bothering him for a week and he'd been trying to play through it. As usual with Manny, we don't know and neither can we forecast whether he'll be in the lineup tomorrow when the Yankees come to town. My guess is probably yes, but we'll see." Sean, what happened to Kolb? I think we signed him to a minor league contract. Is he still with the team?
If the White sox are thinking of trading Cabrera at the end of the season why not trade him now? He'd look great back in a Red sox uniform.
Thanks
