WIth minutes to spare, the Red Sox found takers for Manny Ramirez after all.
The Sox are sending Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for outfielder Jason Bay from the Pirates.
Additionally, the Dodgers have send third base prospect Andy Laroche and pitching prospect Bryan Morris to Pittsburgh.
The Red Sox agreed to pay the remainder of Ramirez's $20 million contract, so the
Dodgers aren't picking up any expense.
Bay, 29, is signed through the end of 2009. His salary next season is $7.5 million. He, like Ramirez, is represented by Scott Boras, making a contract extension unlikely.
The deal came together after an earlier three-way deal involving Pittsburgh and Florida fell through.
The Sox then scrambled and got the Dodgers involved as the third team, replacing Florida.
