BOSTON -- Paul Byrd is making his Red Sox debut in a few hours.
The right-hander is in his 12th big-league season, having pitched for the Mets, Braves, Phillies, Royals, Angels and Indians before joining the Red Sox in a trade three nights ago.
He had a question for Boston manager Terry Francona as he left the ballpark after Thursday night's game.
"He said, 'You going to lose any sleep?' " said Francona, who also managed Byrd in Philadelphia. "I said, 'Should I?" We'll be excited to see him pitch but he has done this for a long time. He'll settle in. This game will not be affected one way or the other because he's wearing a Red Sox uniform for the first time."
