BOSTON -- Jacoby Ellsbury, who wasn't able to start in any of the three games against the Rangers on the homestand earlier this week, is back in the starting lineup Friday night for the series opener against the Blue Jays.

Ellsbury was sidelined because of a bruised tailbone, which he suffered when hit by a pitch from Chicago's John Danks last Monday night. Ellsbury pinch ran on Tuesday night and played the final four innings in right field Thursday night, striking out in his only at-bat.

"We just hope he doesn't get hit there again," said manager Terry Francona.

Not only is Ellsbury starting in center field, but he also has been moved up back to the leadoff spot. His numbers against Toronto starter Roy Halladay, a perennial Cy Young candidate, have been outstanding in a limited sample. Ellsbury is 4 for 6 with a triple, two homers and three RBI.
