Red Sox pitcher David Aardsma (groin) and shortstop Julio Lugo (quad tear) were examined by Dr. Peter Asnis Monday in Boston. Originally, both were scheduled to have MRIs, but that exam was not performed. Aardsma had x-rays taken, which were negative. Both have been cleared to resume their rehab with trainer Scott Waugh in Boston. Third baseman Mike Lowell will join the team in New York on Tuesday. He's on the DL with an oblique strain. He had been rehabbing at his home in Miami while the Red Sox were in Baltimore and Toronto.
