-- David Ortiz will sit the final game of the road trip because his left wrist is ``tender and stiff.'' The presence of opposing lefty Jon Danks was a contributing factor. Ortiz has started every game since returning from the DL at the end of July.
With Ortiz out, J.D. Drew is the Red Sox DH. Drew has DH'd only once before since joining the Red Sox.

-- Tim Wakefield got a cortisone shot while visiting Dr. Thomas Gill in Boston today. He will be shut down totally for the next three days, then be examined again before he starts to throw.

-- Coco Crisp is the leadoff hitter du jour. On this trip alone, the Red Sox have used three different leadoff hitters -- Drew for the three games in Kansas City, Ellsbury yesterday and Crisp tonight.

-- Kevin Youkilis is back in the lineup tonight after sitting Sunday with an ``impingement'' in his left shoulder.
