BALTIMORE -- Red Sox shortstop Julio Lugo (quadriceps tear) is progressing well. He was sprinting in the outfield here at Oriole Park at Camden Yards and was also scheduled to take BP in the cage today for the first time since injuring his leg on July 12.
"He's done a pretty good job," said manager Terry Francona. "He had a pretty good tear. He did it up pretty good and he's worked hard."
With Lugo on the DL, rookie shortstop Jed Lowrie has excelled both in the field and at the plate.
