BALTIMORE -- Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield threw a 44-pitch side session Wednesday and reports everything felt good.
The veteran knuckleballer will throw another side on Saturday in Toronto and it's possible he'll be ready to pitch in a game after that. If Josh Beckett, who has been feeling numbness and tingling in his pinky and ring fingers of late, can't pitch in New York on Tuesday, Wakefield said he'll be ready to go.
Wakefield said he is no longer feeling the stiffness in his shoulder and considers himself painfree. He also said he'll try to stretch more in an attempt to keep the stiffness from returning.
