The topics: Josh Beckett rounding into form, Jed Lowrie's solid contributions from shortstop, the Red Sox' plan to make up for the absence of Tim Wakefield, and the impact of the Evan Longoria injury to the American League East race.

Here's what Sean said about Wakefield, and what the Red Sox' plans are after Charlie Zink's start tonight:

"I think a lot depends on what they get out of [Zink] this evening. The Red Sox hope and believe at this point that because they can -- and they haven't even put Wakefield on the DL; that will take place this afternoon, when Zink's contract is purchased from Pawtucket -- but thanks to being able to back date [Wakefield] and make him retroactive to last Thursday, I think the math works out that he's only going to miss two starts, assuming that he makes some progress here and there aren't any more setbacks with his shoulder. So, in terms of whether or not [David] Pauley might get an opportunity, I suspect that will probably have as much to do with his schedule and what day he's supposed to throw, along with how Zink does this evening."
