Here's what Sean said about Lowell's injury:

"Typically that's a turn on the disabled list and then some, so that could be a significant loss for [the Red Sox]. Even though Lowell did not have any RBI, I think, for the first five weeks of the season, he had [66] RBI going into last night and had kind of made up the ground, and been the run producer he'd always been. But he'll be out for a while now, and that's a significant loss for a team that lost Manny Ramirez a couple of weeks ago, and now Lowell."

And on Byrd:

"He's a guy that obviously doesn't throw hard. He'll be the first addition to that staff, other than Wakefield, who's not really a 'stuff' guy. Beckett has terrific stuff; so does Buchholz, although he hasn't harnessed it; Dice-K has an assortment of pitches; even Lester, a lefty, can throw in the 90s. But [Byrd] is all about location. He changes speeds, mixes it up and has to be very precise with his command. But as the Red Sox saw in the ALCS last year, when he beat them, he can keep a good team off-balance when he's on. So given that the price was almost nothing for him -- either some cash or a warm-body prospect -- I think it is something that could help."
