Here's what Sean said about Matsuzaka, when asked if Dice-K could be a Cy Young candidate based on numbers alone:

"He does have a great winning percentage, at 13-2; he has an ERA under 3; he is among the league leaders in opposing batting average. So statistically, if you're looking at the season from afar, it probably looks better than it's been. Those of us who get to see him every five days realize that sometimes it's a grind, and that there are some bumpy roads there, where he's walking people and pitching out of jams as he did the other night in Chicago. but botomm line -- there's no arguing with results, and 13-2 with an ERA under 3 is pretty good. There are guys who have won more games -- there's Mussina, there's Saunders, there's Lee, all of whom I think have to be thought of ahead of Dice-K -- but if he continues to pitch at this clip and ends up with 18 or 19 wins, and only maybe three or four losses, he has to be in the conversation."
