KANSAS CITY -- David Ortiz, who complained of a ``clicking'' sound during his final at-bat Monday night, is in the lineup tonight, his right wrist feeling better.
Ortiz missed eight weeks after the sheath protecting a tendon in the wrist popped out of place.
``It's alright,'' said Ortiz. ``I've been dealing with this, the ups and downs. It will be all right. It's been affecting me for two months. I've just got to deal with it the rest of the season.''
Though there's some discomfort there, Ortiz believes it may be more of a mental hurdle for him to get over.
``You get it in your head, `Should I not swing?' '' said Ortiz. ``But I feel find today. The doctor warned me it's going to be like that until I don't play for two or three months.''
Mike Lowell is back in the lineup after missing Monday. He took a shot to help lubricate his right hip joint, which is inflamed and slowed by bone spurs.
``I thint it feels better,'' said Lowell. ``Just getting out of bed today and moving around it feels a lot better.''
Lowell said he feels the discomfort the day after he extends himself, but a injection of a substance to coat the hip and ease the grinding should take effect in the next day or so.
He's also taking some anti-inflammatory medication.
J.D. Drew remains in the leadoff spot for the second night in a row.
``I don't want him to bat first the rest of the year,'' said Terry Francona. ``But in the meantime, this lineup gives us the best chance to win. I'm not trying to shake him up; I'm just trying to get some balance and trying to get the most guys on base for when the middle of the order is up.''
