BOSTON -- The Red Sox lineup for today looks as if it might have been made out by Ron Johnson, not Terry Francona.

The entire outfield consists of guys who spent the season playing for Johnson at Pawtucket. Half the infield does, as well. The Yankees are not as heavy with guys up from Triple-A, but they have a definite Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tinge, too.

Beyond the kids who are playing, David Ortiz is back in as the designated hitter while Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Jacoby Ellsbury and Jason Bay all get some rest to prepare for the playoffs.

Two hours before game time it is raining at Fenway, as predicted, although not heavily. It is expected to rain a lot more, and a lot heavier, as the afternoon progresses. But as was the case last night, every effort will be made to get the game in, even if it means a long day and evening here at the park.

Here are the lineups:

NEW YORK
---------------
Gardner Cf
Cano 2b
Giambi DH
A. Rodriguez 3b
Nady Lf
I. Rodriguez C
Ransom SS
Miranda 1b
Cabrera Rf
Ponson P

BOSTON
------------
Kotsay 1b
Lowrie SS
Ortiz DH
Carter Lf
Varitek C
Bailey Rf
Van Every Cf
Velazquez SS
Matsuzaka P
