BOSTON -- Early Saturday afternoon, J.D. Drew didn't seem too encouraged about being able to play anytime soon.
But after the Red Sox' game against the Yankees was postponed because of inclement weather, manager Terry Francona said Drew will play right field in the matinee game of Sunday's day/night doubleheader.
Drew's been bothered by a herniated disk and has only played three innings (Wednesday night) in over a month.
"He didn't get worse," said Francona. "We've been trying to play him and that's been the plan, but when he said he couldn't, we didn't. And then he said he can, so we will."
