ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Another hallmark of games at Tropicana Field? Bizarre home runs.

Jason Bay hit the "C-ring" catwalk in the fourth inning. Center fielder Fernando Perez drifted back to the warning track and seemed positioned to catch the ball, but it never came down, sticking in the catwalk and, under the Trop ground rules, resulting in a homer.

It was just the third time in the history of the ballpark that a ball had gone up and not come down, and the first time it happened with the "C-ring" catwalk.

Speaking of homers, Tampa Bay second baseman Akinori Iwamura has six this season and four of them have come against the Sox.
