Click the play button below to hear Sean McAdam's comments, recorded this morning. The topics: Paul Byrd's value as a long reliever and potential starter on the postseason roster, the importance of matchups when building a playoff roster, and the coming four-game series with the Blue Jays.

Here's what Sean said about Byrd:
"He pitched last year for Cleveland against the Red Sox. In fact going back in the division series, he beat the Yankees in Yankee Stadium in the clinching win for the Indians, and then beat the Red Sox once in the ALCS. So he's got some experience in that scenario, but in the first round, because it's a best-of-five setup where you would have Beckett, Lester and Dice-K, presumably in that order, starting, you wouldn't have Byrd starting a game. But he would be available -- if maybe Dice-K ran his pitch count up early and they have to get him out of there in the third, fourth inning, then Byrd can come in. He's stretched out, he can give them multiple innings, and then should they advance, you've got the decision about who gets to pitch one of those games when you need a fourth starter: is it Byrd or Wakefield?"
