Click the play button below to hear Sean McAdam's comments, recorded this morning. The topics: why the Sox should stick with Lester as their number-two playoff starter and Dice-K as number three, despite Lester's superior record at Fenway; the pros and cons for the Angels of a longer or a shorter playoff format; Tommy Harper's enduring stolen-base record; and Sean's early read on the (likely) Red Sox-Angels matchup.
Here's what Sean said about about Red Sox vs. Angels:"
"I think it's going to be the best of the four first-round series in both leagues. You're looking at what might be the two best teams in baseball, and I don't see any way it doesn't go five games. It's really going to come down to who gets the better pitching -- that's sort of starting the obvious here -- but i think I think they're pretty evenly matched. And you've got to ask yourself what's more important: The Red Sox' dominance of the Angels in the past couple of postseason meetings, or the Angels' dominance of the Red Sox in the nine games that they went head-to-head this regular season. I think it will be a fascinating series, and the Red Sox can take some solace that if they get through this, it will probably be the toughest assignment they have. It'll be a little easier should they move on to the LCS and eventually the World Series."
