| ALCS Game Six in-game update: Game is in 'umpire delay' »
By Joe McDonald ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett has worked two innings already in Game Six at Tropicana Field and it's clear the once-potent right-hander has changed his style from a power pitcher to one of finesse. Beckett, who has been bothered back a back, elbow and recent oblique strain, this season had no choice but to change things up. This is his third postseason start of 2008 and he's hoping to have better success than his first two, which were brutal. Tonight he's relying more on his offspeed pitches. He threw 18 pitches in the first inning, and only seven in the second. The majority of his pitches have been curveballs. He topped out at 93 MPH with his fastball. |
