| ALCS Game Six in-game update: Game resumes after 15-minute delay »
Game Six of the American League Championship Series is being delayed because of an injury to plate umpire Derryl Cousins. Cousins was hit in the right collarbone area by a foul tip off the bat of Jason Varitek when Varitek was batting in the top of the second inning. Cousins remained in the game for three complete innings, but had to leave before the beginning of the top of the fourth. Crew chief Tim McClelland will replace Cousins behind the plate. James Shields, the Rays' starter, is currently in the dugout, and word is that he will be given all the time he needs to warm up when the umpires retake the field. |
