BOSTON -- David Ortiz has had a quieter postseason than most Red Sox fans are used to.
The left-handed slugger enters Game Three of the ALCS 4-for-23 in the playoffs with a double, RBI and seven walks. The Red Sox had an optional workout on Monday, and Ortiz arrived at Fenway to take some much-needed BP.
"He came by [Monday] and peppered the [left-field] wall," said manager Terry Francona. "That was an intelligent thing to do. David's the main guy and when he has the ability to hit that wall, he has the ability to hit the ball anywhere with power. He came out [Monday] and beat the [crap] out of that wall. It was a really good move."
Without Manny Ramirez hitting behind Ortiz in the order, there was some concern Ortiz wouldn't see the same types of pitches. To some extent that has been the case, but he is hitless in his last eight plate appearances with four walks.
