ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Red Sox manager Terry Francona usually allows his players to do their own thing. He's not the type of manager to gather everyone in the clubhouse and give the "Win one for the Gipper" speech.
This isn't the regular season, though. This is October. So with the Red Sox trailing the Rays 3-1 in the American League Championship Series, Francona told his players he believes in them.
"He said we're going to go all the way," according to Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon. "We have to take that approach and believe you're going to go all the way. If you don't then you're in trouble."
