Both bullpens set to go

BOSTON - Despite seeing five relievers from both teams pitch in Game Three, the Red Sox and Angels weren't holding anything back in their bullpens.

While lefty Javier Lopez ultimately was pinned with the loss in the 12th inning, the Red Sox' pen threw seven innings and gave up just one run on seven hits. Jonathan Papelbon threw two innings and 31 pitches and while Terry Francona said he did not see his closer pitching two innings again, he's ready for action.

"I think everybody's available," said Francona. "I reserve the right if somebody goes out there and says they're stiff but I don't think that's the case.''

The Angels are in the same boat. Their closer, Francisco Rodriguez, threw 33 pitches but will be ready as well.

"You know what, our guys are very resilient," said L.A. manager Mike Scioscia. "In this situation where you're facing elimination, there certainly has to be leeway to stretch your guy, and then we'll worry about the next game.''
Francona praised the work of righty Manny Delcarmen. He pitched shutout ball with one hit in 1.2 innings.

"I thought Manny Delcarmen was as good as I've seen in a while. He threw some changeups that were unhittable coming off some 97 mile and hour fastballs. That was exciting.''

Scioscia noted that the relief work of both teams was "extraordinary" but every game is differnet. Both teams were hoping for long, strong outings from starters Jon Lester and John Lackey.

"Last night we got it done. We'll have to approach it the same way," said Scioscia. ``What helps with this format is obviously in the days off, your bullpen automatically resets for the most part."
