BY PAUL KENYON BOSTON -- A number of Red Sox players are sporting goatees these days. It is not an accident. "It's just something to try out,'' said reliever Javy Lopez. "Trying to bond together a little bit. They go with the Mohawks. We go with the chip straps.'' "About a month ago we kind of collectively said, 'Let's do it,' and we did,'' said Lopez, who is one of those sporting the chin hair. Justin Masterson is another of those involved, and he has taken some kidding because his goatee is not as pronounced as some of the others. "He's got a little color,'' Lopez said. "But we might need to darken it up a little bit.'' |
