Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers was named most outstanding player in the American League in the Major League Baseball Players Association's Players' Choice awards. Hamilton, who hit .304 with 32 home runs and 130 RBI, beat out Justin Morneau of the Twins and Dustin Pedroia of the Red Sox in the voting among players, which took place in September under the supervision of accounting firm KPMG. Albert Pujols of the Cardinals was the winner in the National League. The most outstanding player awards are not to be confused with the more well-known MVP awards handed out in November by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. |
