BY KEVIN McNAMARA ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- With Mike Lowell sidelined for the ALCS, Mark Kotsay has reported for duty. Kevin Youkilis is set to move across the diamond and take Lowell's place at third base "It's such a pleasure being part of this team and being where I'm at right now in the ALCS and having this opportunity to advance to a World Series for the first time in my career,'' he said. "I had that opportunity in 2006 (with Oakland) and it was immediately taken away by the Tigers in four games. Hopefully we can end up on the positive side this time.'' Kotsay is a career outfielder who hadn't started a game at first since September of 2006. While he says he's comfortable in the infield, it certainly is not his preference. The Red Sox acquired Kotsay from the Braves on August 27 in exchange for minor league outfielder Luis Sumoza. |
