Lots of Loose Change

ANAHEIM - The Red Sox and Angels have combined for nine hits but only one run after five innings. The Sox have stranded five runners, while the Angels have left seven.
Both John Lackey and Jon Lester have done a great job squirming out of trouble. The Angels scratched out a single run in the third thanks to a bad error by rookie shortstop Jed Lowrie. Torii Hunter drove in Garret Anderson with the unearned run.
Lester looked a bit like Diasuke Matsuzaka, nibbling a bit too much and also not getting some strike calls from the umpire, Tim Welke. He's thrown 76 pitches through five innings.
It is not getting any cooler as the night settles in here. In fact, it is downright hot and steamy. Like an early August night at Fenway.
