| Report: Japanese pitcher agrees to sign with Red Sox »
By Joe McDonald It's going to be a busy day in the baseball world, and it should be an even more interesting week leading up to the annual winter meetings, which begin Monday in Las Vegas. We've been working the phones, emails and text messages for weeks in preparation. The Red Sox are expected to send out a press release soon on some arbitration decisions. Clubs have until midnight to work exclusively with its free agents. Boston is expected to offer catcher Jason Varitek arbitration. If he does not accept it - which he probably will not - and eventually signs with another club, the Red Sox will receive two draft picks. Once the Red Sox make the offer, the captain will have until Dec. 7 to make a decision. |
