BOSTON (AP) - Dustin Pedroia will receive his AL MVP award on Jan. 8 at the annual dinner of the Boston chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

The Red Sox second baseman won the title in his second major league season after winning the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2007. Pedroia plans to attend the dinner at which he also will receive the chapter's Thomas A. Yawkey Red Sox MVP Award.

The last time the AL MVP award was presented at the dinner was in 1996 when it went to Red Sox first baseman Mo Vaughn.

The chapter also announced Friday that Lenny Megliola of The Metrowest Daily News in Framingham will receive the Dave O'Hara Award for long and meritorious service to the chapter.
