The New York Daily News and New York Post both reported Sunday that Joe Torre is critical of the Yankees in his new book, co-authored with SI.com writer Tom Verducci and due to be released Feb. 3.

According to the reports, Torre

-- Described general manager Brian Cashman as a "less-than-supportive ally who betrays him on several fronts" during his final season with the team.

-- Called many of his former players prima-donnas, particularly Alex Rodriguez, who he said was often referred to by teammates as "A-Fraud"

-- Said Rodriguez was obsessed by a rivalry with teammate Derek Jeter.

-- Called the Yankees' last contract offer in October 2007 -- one which cut his base salary and instead provided incentives for playoff-series victories -- an "insult."

-- Said team doctors who diagnosed him with prostate cancer in 1999 informed Yankee owner George Steinbrenner of his illness before they told Torre himself.
