The Boston Globe's Tony Massarotti has a word of caution today for Red Sox fans expecting an answer early this morning on Jason Varitek's future with the team. Although the deadline that Varitek faces to accept or reject the club's contract offer has been reported as being 8:30 this morning, Varitek's agent, Scott Boras, is based on the West Coast. Therefore, Massarotti writes, the club would probably be fine with the deadline being enforced at 8:30 West Coast time -- 11:30 back East. Stay tuned; when we know more, we'll let you know.
