Spring Training: Varitek will play on Thursday

FORT MYERS, Fla. _ Don't be alarmed just because Jason Varitek is not in the lineup for either game on Wednesday.

The Red Sox catcher is slated to play on Thursday. Red Sox manager Terry Francona explained he didn't want his captain to catch back-to-back games the first two days of the exhibition season.
