FORT MYERS, Fla. _ Red Sox pitching prospect Clay Buchholz tossed a bullpen session Thursday morning and looked good.
The right-hander, who struggled in a big way in 2008, is coming into camp with an entirely new attitude.
"It was sort of a long offseason for me after last year," he said. "I don't want to preach about it because it wasn't the type of year I wanted to have. It's a new year and I'm looking forward to something good."
Buchholz looked relaxed and comfortable during his 30-pitch session where he was able to throw all of his pitches. He was working with catching prospect Mark Wagner.
"He was solid. He looked good," said Wagner. "He said he had thrown a little bit before, but when doesn't Clay look good. It was good to get back behind the plate with him. It was solid."
"He had a great down angle on his fastball and it was real live," explained Wagner. "The movement was there and if he's throwing like that then good things are going to happen. He's in midseason form."
