Manager Terry Francona said that J.D. Drew is day-to-day after being hit in the hand by a pitch yesterday, and that he should have no lasting effects from the strike. "J.D. didn't hit today, but he came in and got treatment. Actually feels pretty good. Just got a bruise, so that's good," Francona said. Drew was hit on the bottom part of his right hand, just above where the hand meets the wrist, during yesterday's game. He went for x-rays after being pulled from the game, but no breaks were detected. Drew is not expected to play in Sunday's game. "It'll be completely day to day on how he feels, how quickly the bruise doesn't feel bruised," Francona said. Kevin Youkilis took batting practice back at Ft. Myers this morning, without the protective boot that has covered his foot for the past three days. He reported no problems, and should have the boot off for good tomorrow. "Youk went out and took some balls and hit. He'll be out of the boot Youkilis aggravated an already weak ankle while away at the World Baseball Classic, and has been shut down for several days to give the inflammation time to subside. |
