Justin Masterson threw four innings in a minor league game at the Red Sox minor league complex this afternoon, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk, while striking out five. The team is still trying to figure out whether Masterson should come into the year as a starter or a reliever. "We'll see. we'll sit down, i'm sure while we're home in the next couple days and kind of talk some things over, probably sort through some more pitching, see where we're at," Francona said. Masterson was used as a reliever last year, but has been training as a starter this spring. He has been working on a change-up to complement his slider and fastball. "We'll probably make some decisions in the next couple days on which way to go with some of the pitching. Masterson could be one of them too," Francona said. |
