Second baseman Dustin Pedroia woke up this morning feeling fine after taking two at-bats against the Pirates yesterday, and said his strained abdominal muscle is not bothering him.
"I feel fine. I haven't hit or anything yet, but I'm not sore," Pedroia said.
Pedroia injured the muscle while on loan to the U.S. team in the World Baseball Classic. The injury was initially feared to be to his oblique muscle, but it was later deemed to be a less serious abdominal strain.
Pedroia should work out with the team today, taking batting practice and infield drills.
Assuming he's still feeling healthy, he'll be back in the game tomorrow.
"Hopefully tomorrow I wake up and I'm still not sore, and I'll play," Pedroia said.
