The Red Sox lead the Twins 5-2 after a third-inning explosion against Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano.
Rocco Baldelli, David Ortiz, and Jason Bay all hit home runs with men on base for the Sox, giving them seven runs in the inning against Liriano. The Sox batted around in the inning.
Red Sox starter Brad Penny was shaky in the first inning, allowing a single to Carlos Gomez, an RBI double to Joe Crede, and an RBI single to Justin Morneau. But he has settled down since, throwing two scoreless innings.
