FORT MYERS, Fla. _ Red Sox president/CEO Larry Lucchino just said he can not comment on whether the organization gave pitcher Jon Lester a contract extenstion.

Yahoo! Sports reported a little while ago that the Red Sox inked the southpaw to a five-year deal with $30 million.

"I can not comment," said Lucchino. "I will say Jon is a worthy candidate for a commitment from the organization."

The deal will be final once Lester passes his physical in the next couple of days.
