Puerto Rico starter Javier Vasquez suffocated the potent American lineup for five innings tonight, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out two, and left after throwing 67 pitches.

After four lethargic innings, the American team finally came to life in the fifth. Down 6-0, Brian McCann doubled with two men on base, bringing home Adam Dunn.

Vasquez ended the threat, however, and the Puerto Rican team struck right back. Carlos Beltran doubled, Ivan Rodriguez followed with another double that skipped by a sliding Adam Dunn to bring Beltran home.

Boston's Kevin Youkilis is 0-3 with a strikeout and two groundouts.
