BOSTON _ Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has yet to hit a home run this season. He's entering Sunday night's game against the Yankees with a .217 average. He claims he's fine. His manager Terry Francona says the same.

Over the last seven games, Ortiz is hitting .290 with 4 doubles, 5 RBI and 5 runs to raise his average from .158 to .217. Most of the left-hander's hit are going to the opposite field, so during BP on Sunday he was working on a fundamental drill in order to help his swing.

He stood behind the first-base screen and was practicing his swing. The trick is to swing without hitting the net, forcing you to keep your hands inside the ball.

"It helps and works," he said afterwards. "I've been doing it since I was a kid. I'm fine."
