ANAHEIM, Calif. _ At some point soon Red Sox manager Terry Francona would like to get bench players Chris Carter and Nick Green into the lineup.
With the Sox facing three left-handers in the upcoming Athletics series in Oakland, it may be hard for the left-handed hitting Carter to make an appearance. The 26-year-old first baseman/outfielder is from Concord, Calif., and has a group of 50 people going to one of games in Oakland. He was able to secure 30 from the Sox and his parents bought another 20 for family and friends.
There will be a caravan of two buses taking the Carter Group to the ballgame. Carter beat out Jeff Bailey, Brad Wilkerson and Paul McAnulty for the backup role on the Sox during spring training.
