BOSTON _ The A.L. East standings on the left-field wall at Fenway Park is loaded with zeros.
When Red Sox manager Terry Francona was asked to play soothsayer on the season, he believes, if healthy, his club could have a very good season.
"I think we're going to do great," said Francona with a smile. "I bet there are 29 other managers feeling the same way. There's confidence, yet anxiety. It's always the same. I think we have reason to be optimistic [in the] big picture. It's also hard to look at the big picture because we have a game tomorrow. You get caught up, especially in the first two weeks when ever thing is over analyzed and over magnified. We just try to have good players do the right things and as you get into the grind of the season, if you're as good as you think you are, it'll show."
The talk focused on the ALCS rematch between the Red Sox and the Rays, but most Red Sox players will tell you that was forgotten about soon after the Game Seven loss in St. Petersburg last October.
