ANAHEIM, Calif. _ Red Sox shortstop Jed Lowrie entered Saturday's game with a .067 average in the first four games of the regular season.

It's quite a contract to his spring training numbers where he hit .343 with three homers and 16 RBI in 25 Grapefruit League games. The 24-year-old won the starting job out of camp and has struggled offensively.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona says he's not worried about Lowrie's offensive woes at this time because he'll get through it.

"You hate to say it because it almost never fails. The guy who swung the bat the best in spring training, and I don't know why that is. It's the baseball gods. It's a weird circumstance. He hit that last ball [Friday] well and that was good see. He's actually having pretty good at-bats. He's just gotten in deep counts."

In his first at-bat of the afternoon on Saturday, Lowrie drew a walk.

Last season he hit .258 with two homers with 46 RBI in 81 games.
