lowrie0409.jpgSeveral Red Sox players, including the normally even-tempered Jason Bay and Jed Lowrie, had criticism after last night's game of umpire Bob Davidson's strike zone, according to The Boston Herald's John Tomase. But Bay said that Davidson's calls were consistent for both teams (not all of his teammates agreed, apparently), even though he thought the strike zone was larger than it should have been.

Bay struck out with two on and one out in the sixth inning, taking what appeared to be a questionable called third strike.

"That was a big point in the game," Bay said. "It could have been bases loaded with one out, but such is life. I thought I battled to put myself in a good position, but it didn't go my way. It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last."

Lowrie, meanwhile, struck out in the biggest situation of the game -- with the bases loaded and two out in the eighth inning. Lowrie represented the tying run with the Rays leading, 6-2, at the time.
